If your house is cold?
- Check the inches of fuel in your tank. Compare to the tank chart on this page. If you have 3 inches or less you are out of fuel.
- You have 2 options in the freezing weather:
- Go to the gas station and get 5 to 10 gallons of diesel and that should last you through the night (only October through March for Toyo Stoves).
- Call emergency dispatch (907) 299-6633 and have fuel delivered. There is a call out fee.
- You have fuel but no heat:
- On the Toyo and Monitor Heaters, there are error messages when the heater stops working. You can Google your type of heater to find the error message and suggested solutions. If you cannot resolve or get the heater to start, you will need to call a repair technician.
- It is recommended that you have your source of heat serviced once a year and preferably in the summer. To get ready for winter, the customer may change the filter cartridge and add a water dispersing additive with the fall fill. Inspect the tank and stand to ensure that it is stable. If the stand is made of wood , check the nails / bolts to make sure they are securely bolted together and the wood is not rotting. Watch for leaning stands and uneven ground, that there are no problems that need to be corrected and if so make sure the tank and stand are secure.
Winter Service
Please keep your driveway plowed (Snow) and sanded (Ice conditions) as much as possible. If the driver determines your driveway is unsafe or he will be unable to get back on the road safely, you will not get fuel until it is safe for us to do so. We will try to get a hold of you if the driver cannot make it to your tank. If you know it is marginal, please let the dispatch know so we can make proper arrangements.
Please make sure the path to the tank is shoveled. Make sure the hose pull is as short as possible, and the driver doesn’t have to break a trail around clutter.
Please do not put your tank in a dog run/fenced in area for obvious reasons. This will keep your driver very happy.”
